How to Install a Trunk Spoiler Like a Pro – Step-by-Step Guide

🚗 Why Upgrade Your Trunk with a Spoiler?

Adding a spoiler gives your vehicle a sportier look while improving rear-end aerodynamics. Whether it’s a ducktail, high-kick, or OEM-style spoiler, installation is simple with the right tools and prep.

🧰 Tools You'll Need

  • 3M automotive-grade double-sided tape
  • Isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth
  • Masking tape
  • Hair dryer or heat gun (if weather is cold)
  • Optional: adhesion promoter

📝 Step-by-Step Installation Guide

1. Clean the Trunk Surface

Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the trunk where the spoiler will sit. Remove all wax, dirt, or oil for maximum adhesion.

2. Test Fit and Mark Position

Place the spoiler on the trunk to check fitment. Use masking tape to outline the correct position and take photos to reference later.

3. Apply 3M Tape

Flip the spoiler and apply 3M tape along the edges. Press down firmly. If using an adhesion promoter, apply it to the trunk now.

4. Warm the Surface

If it's cold, warm the tape and trunk area using a hair dryer or heat gun to activate the adhesive.

5. Mount the Spoiler

Line up the spoiler with your tape marks. Slowly peel off the 3M backing and press down section by section. Apply firm pressure for 30–60 seconds.

6. Let It Cure

Wait at least 24 hours before washing the car or driving at high speeds. This gives the adhesive time to cure fully.
